David Bowie

In 1976, Bowie certainly expressed to Cameron Crowe for Playboy that he is bisexual. “But I can’t deny that I’ve used that fact very well,” the singer claimed. This was four years after he said to Melody Maker that he’s “gay, and always has been, even when I was David Jones.” The androgynous rock star of the 1960s and beyond reinvented popular music with singles such as Space Oddity and Starman. Additionally, his first two albums to go platinum were 1971’s Hunky Dory and 1972’s The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.

Let me remind you that Bowie was and remains a queer icon. His legacy will live on past his 2016 death, both in his music and in his kids, Duncan Jones (formerly Zowie) and Alexandria “Lexi” Jones. His credit score might just be unimaginable. But did you know that the icon would get into fist fights while attending Stockwell Infants School? More than that, he founded his first band The Konrads when he was just fifteen.
